The Bayshore Town Center in Glendale, Wisconsin has a problem keeping its movie theater. The ACX Entertainment - Bayshore has closed after just two years of operation.

Located just north of downtown Milwaukee in the shopping center near I-43 and Silver Spring Road, the movie theater has been operated by Main Street Theatres, Inc. (ACX Cinemas) since opening in 2023. It originally opened in 2007 as the IPic Entertainment at Bayshore Town Center and was the first upscale movie theater in the Milwaukee area that also included a restaurant, bar and lounge, and a bowling alley. iPic closed the operation in March 2018.

According to two articles published recently in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel (see list below), the movie theater has been closed since early September, with "electrical issues" being identified as the reason. The most recent article mentions that the shopping center's owners have "decided to reclaim the space" due to problems with the lease terms.

The Fox Bay Cinema Grill nearby closed in June 2021, so moviegoers in the area are once again left without any local options. It's odd that this area has such problems keeping a movie theater operating. It's less than 15 minutes from downtown and the surrounding area is well-populated. The Marcus North Shore Cinema is a 15 minute drive to the north up I-43 and it is consistently busy. Perhaps this is a situation similar to that experienced by the Silverspot Cinema at The Corners of Brookfield, which closed earlier this year in relative obscurity compared to the dominant Marcus Theatres locations nearby.

Where to Watch Movies on the Big Screen

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Downer Theatre and the Oriental Theatre near downtown Milwaukee. While these theaters have their own appeal, nothing in the area matches the combination of amenities offered by the former Bayshore movie theater.

Sioux City Location Closed Recently

ACX Cinemas also experienced the sudden closure of another location recently. The doors to the ACX Promenade Cinema in Sioux City, Iowa were locked when moviegoers tried to get in Wednesday, October 1, 2025. The company also operates theaters in Illinois, Nebraska, and Ohio. All those locations appear to be open for business at this time.
