We regretfully announce that we are now closed for business. Thank you all for your patronage and years of support!
Yours Truly,
Budget South Cinema Management Team

The popular second-run movie theater is located on Highway 100, just north of Layton Avenue. The Reader Comments for the theater always gave it decent marks, with most appreciating the lower prices ($2.00 for all shows everyday; $1.00 on Tuesdays.).

Even though the closure of this theater was without much advance notice to customers, it has been many years in the making. We have articles going back to 2006 which mention that the theater might be demolished in the name of progress and development.

Now that the final movie has been shown at this theater, its customers will need to find alternatives for watching movies at a discount. Unfortunately, not too many options exist in the $2 range, but Marcus Theatres locations (the dominant chain the Milwaukee area) does offer $5 movies on Tuesdays. The closest location is the Marcus Ridge Cinemas in New Berlin, which is on Moorland Road and I-43, followed by Marcus Showtime Cinema in Franklin, which is a six-mile drive south on Highway 100 to Loomis Road. The closest place for $2 movies is the Marcus Value Cinema - Oak Creek, which is almost 12 miles away on 27th Street near Rawson Avenue.

I have very fond memories of Budget South as I was the foreman for the electrics when it was built. The first movie was Back to the Future. All the families of the tradesmen that worked on the project were invited to the Grand Opening where a Delorean was parked out front. Much like Budget South I am now retired.
