Closed Sign

The RED Cinemas in Greensboro, North Carolina has closed.

Located along Battleground Avenue just south of West Wendover Avenue, the movie theater closed effective today, January 29, 2026. It posted a message on its social media earlier today that read as follows:

It is with very heavy hearts that we share that RED Cinemas Greensboro will be closing its doors for good.

This decision was not made lightly. We know how much this space has meant to our team and to the community, and that is what makes this goodbye so difficult. What we will always value most is the people.

Our staff brought RED Cinemas to life. Their passion, creativity, and dedication shaped more than a theater—it became a place for connection, expression, and shared experience. From the first showtime to the last, this closure is in no way a reflection of their talent or commitment.

We are especially grateful to have offered RED as a canvas not only for film, but for street art as well. Being able to showcase bold, local artistic voices alongside stories on the big screen made this space truly unique, and it’s something we are incredibly proud of.

To our guests and the Greensboro community, thank you for the years of support and memories. We will miss the thrill of blockbuster premieres, the discovery of indie films, the conversations sparked afterward, and the energy that filled our lobby and theaters.

Thank you, Greensboro and the Triad, for embracing RED Cinemas and making it part of your community.

The films, the art, and the memories will always stay with us.

According to our records, the movie theater originally opened in 1999 as the Carousel Grande Cinemas. It was later known as the Carousel Grande Cinema 15, Carousel Cinemas at Battleground Ave, and Carousel Luxury Cinemas. It opened in January 2015 as the RED Cinema
