High definition movie channel HDNet Movies is holding a marathon of ten movies by legendary director Alfred Hitchcock. The marathon begins early on December 31, 2007 and goes through the entire day.
According to the press release issued by HDNet Movies, these movies will be presented "in their full Original Aspect Ratio. These movies are meticulously converted from original film sources and presented at the highest possible 1080i resolution."
The lineup of movies includes:
- "Frenzy" – 3:30 a.m. ET
An innocent man, suspected by the London police to be the strangler known as the Necktie Killer, is forced to go on the run to find the real killer. Starring Jon Finch, Alec McCowen, and Barry Foster. - "Topaz" – 5:30 a.m. ET
International spy thriller loosely based on real events of a group of spies belonging to the Topaz Group, who together discover a huge betrayal that uncovers Soviet plots to hide missiles in Cuba. Starring Frederick Stafford, Dany Robin and Claude Jade. - "Family Plot" – 8:00 a.m. ET
In Hitchcock's last film, a phony psychic and her cohort are hired to find the lost heir to a family fortune, but unbeknownst to everyone, the child has been located and taken for ransom by kidnappers. Starring Karen Black, Bruce Dern, and Barbara Harris. - "The Trouble with Harry" – 10:00 a.m. ET
A retired man, out for a day of rabbit hunting, comes upon the dead body of a man named Harry. Mistakenly assuming that he is responsible for the death, he buries Henry's body and triggers a comical downpour of misunderstandings leading others in the town to believe that they are responsible for Harry's death. Starring Edmund Gwenn, John Forsythe, and Shirley MacLaine. - "Torn Curtain" – 11:45 a.m. ET
A Cold-War espionage thriller about a physicist whose fiancee accidentally joins him on a secret mission to defect to East Germany to steal a scientific formula. Starring Paul Newman, Julie Andrews and Lila Kedrova. "The Man Who Knew Too Much" – 2:00 p.m. ET
While on a family holiday in Morocco, a man learns of an assassination plot, and after discovering that his son has been kidnapped, races against time to free him and stop the assassination. Starring James Stewart, Doris Day, and Brenda De Banzie.- "The Birds" – 4:00 p.m. ET
A small coastal town finds itself being attacked and outnumbered by abnormally ravenous and vicious birds. Starring Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette and Tipi Hedren. - "Vertigo" – 6:05 p.m. ET
A retired policeman's fears and obsessions get the best of him when he takes one last job and falls in love with the mysterious wife of a client. Starring James Stewart, Kim Novak, and Barbara Bel Geddes. - "Rear Window" – 8:15 p.m. ET
A photojournalist, forced to confinement in his apartment due to two broken legs, passes the time by "spying" on his neighbors and discovers a possible murder. Starring James Stewart, Grace Kelly, and Wendell Corey. - "Psycho" – 10:15 p.m. ET
Hitchcock's most notorious film! A fugitive woman seeks shelter in a little-known motel where she becomes the victim of the peculiar young man who runs the inn. Starring Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, and Vera Miles.
