The EVO Entertainment - Peninsula Town Center in Hampton, Virginia has closed.

Located in the Peninsula Town Center at I-64 and Mercury Boulevard on the way toward Newport News from Hampton, the movie theater last provided us with showtimes updates on June 14, 2024, so it likely closed over the weekend. We could not find any news coverage about the theater closing, but it no longer is listed on the website for EVO Entertainment.

Where to Find Movies Now

It's been a rough past couple of months for people in the immediate area. The Cinema Cafe - Riverdale Hampton, which was located a half mile away from the Peninsula Town Center, closed in October 2023 after its lease expired.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the AMC Hampton Towne Centre 24 and the IMAX - Virginia Air & Space Center in Hampton, and the Cinemark City Center 12 in Newport News. All three options are five miles away or less, and more are available if you want drive a little further. If you have EVO Entertainment gift cards to use, the closest location is the EVO Entertainment - Fredericksburg, which is about 130 miles away.

Theater History

According to our records, it opened June 25, 2010 as the Cobb CineBistro at Peninsula Town Center (Cobb Theatres). It became the Phoenix Theatres Peninsula Movie Bistro (Phoenix Theatres Entertainment, LLC) in July 2017. In February 2019, it became the Studio Movie Grill - Hampton (Studio Movie Grill), with 8 screens. Studio Movie Grill declared bankruptcy in October 2020, and the chain closed all locations in January 2021. The movie theater was reopened May 27, 2022 by EVO Entertainment as the EVO Entertainment - Peninsula Town Center.
