Harkins Theatres announced today that it is closing all locations through March 31, 2020, following guidance from the CDC and other authorities to minimize the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The following message has been posted to the Harkins Theatres web site:

Dear Harkins team, friends, family, and valued guests,

The health and well-being of our loyal team and guests is and always will be our highest priority. While there have been no reported cases of COVID-19 at Harkins Theatres, today, following the guidance from the CDC, the WHO and the federal government, we have determined that we must temporarily suspend the operation of our movie theatres through March 31st, 2020. Harkins will continue to pay all of our team during this time. We will closely monitor the circumstances and make further adjustments as necessary. While this is certainly disappointing news for us, our overriding concern is for those directly impacted by this potentially deadly disease, our communities and the dedicated members of our team.

We know that our communities depend on us to provide an escape during uncertain times, and we feel that responsibility deeply. I am forever grateful for the extraordinary efforts made by our team during these last few weeks to ensure that we safely continued to deliver the magic of movies to our guests for as long as possible.

Make no mistake, we will be back soon, bigger and better than ever. With all the rescheduled great movies, along with the movies planned for summer and fall, we look forward to a blockbuster remainder of the year.

We are profoundly grateful for the loyalty and support you have shown us throughout the years, and especially now. Our hope is for everyone to stay safe, be kind and show grace during this time.

Please look out for one another, and we hope to see you back at the movies very soon.

Sincerely,

Mike Bowers

President and CEO, Harkins Theatres

Looking for Alternatives?

Many theaters are restricting seating, performing extra cleaning, and taking other precautions in order to keep moviegoers safe, including closing down temporarily. The situation is very fluid, and changes and updates continue to happen in real time. (For more on this, please see Curious How Theaters are Handling Coronavirus Concerns?)

You can find what movie theaters are still open and playing movies by going to the Movies section and finding the movie you are interested in. However, since theaters are moving at a rapid pace, please confirm that the theater you want to attend is expecting to be open for the show in question by visiting their official web sites, Facebook pages, and Twitter feeds for official notifications.

If you're not able to attend a theater to see a movie, there are plenty of great movies to watch at home! Please see our Movie Downloads and Streaming Options page in the Gift Shop for some possibilities!
