The Court Square Theater in Harrisonburg, Virginia has closed.

The theater posted the announcement of its closure a few weeks ago:

With heavy hearts, we share that Court Square Theater, operated by Arts Council of the Valley (ACV) since 2001, will close on Dec 31, 2025.

The ACV Board of Directors voted Dec 17 to cease operations of the theater at the conclusion of this calendar year. The loss of significant local government funding since the pandemic, coupled with decreasing audience turnout, led to the Board’s difficult decision.

For more than 25 years, Court Square Theater has played a significant role in the vibrancy of downtown Harrisonburg. From concerts and films of all kinds to dance performances and live theatre productions - and so much more - the theater has provided a special place to connect meaningfully with the performing arts in our community. We are so grateful to all patrons, performers, volunteers, sponsors, and staff members who have loved the theater and filled it with magic all this time.

Where to Watch Movies on the Big Screen

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Regal Harrisonburg 14 in Harrisonburg, the Sipe Center in Bridgewater, and the Visulite Cinema in Staunton.
