The Bow Tie Palace 17 & BTX Theater in Hartford, Connecticut will not reopen under the Bow Tie Cinemas banner.
Located on New Park Avenue just south of I-84, the theater will be known as the Apple Cinemas - Hartford Xtreme under the management of Apple Cinemas, which also took over the Spotlight Theatres location on Front Street earlier this month.
Bow Tie Cinemas allowed its lease on the building to expire, according to a recent article published in the Hartford Business Journal:
Apple Cinemas recently leased the 60,000-square-foot, 17-screen multiplex at 330 New Park Ave., according to KeyPoint Partners, the Mass.-based commercial real estate service firm that brokered the deal. Apple Cinemas, which already has locations in Simsbury, Torrington, Waterbury and Barkhamsted, plans to reopen the Hartford theater sometime in July, KeyPoint said.
Bow Tie recently vacated the theater owned by New York-based property management company Diamond Properties, and still operates multiplexes in New Haven, Greenwich, Trumbull, New Canaan, and four split between Norwalk and Stamford.

The theater had seventeen screens, with five devoted to foreign, independent, and art-house movies under the separate operation that was Bow Tie Cinema City at the Palace. The remaining twelve will continue to show movies, and it sounds like the additional space will be converted into alternative entertainment, including an arcade, bar, and mini-golf or ax-throwing, according to an article published June 12 in the Hartford Courant.
Apple Cinemas operates six other locations, including the aforementioned Front Street location. Five are in Connecticut and one is in Massachusetts.
