The future of the two movie theaters in Huntington, Indiana is uncertain, according to a recent news article published by WANE (Channel 15 in Fort Wayne). The TV station reports that the Goodrich Huntington 7 and the Goodrich Huntington Twin Drive-In Theatre may close for good:

The future for two movie theaters in Huntington remains uncertain.

Back in March, owners of Huntington 7 announced in a now-deleted Facebook post that the theater was closing its doors permanently. However, that may not be the case for much longer.

On Friday, a spokesperson with Goodrich Quality Theaters confirmed to WANE 15 that the company is up for sale. The spokesperson went on to say that the company anticipates the theaters will reopen sometime late summer but at this time was unsure whether they would reopen as Goodrich or another company.

Both theaters are operated by Goodrich Quality Theaters, Inc., which operates 30 movie theaters in five states. The company filed for bankruptcy in February 2020, before the mandated, but temporary, closures of movie theaters in mid-March as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

If the theaters do not reopen after stay-at-home restrictions are lifted, that will leave Huntington without any movie theaters. The closest movie theaters will be the 13-24 Drive-In and Eagles Theater in Wabash (about 16 miles away), as well as the Bones Theatre in Columbia City and the AMC Jefferson Point 18 (both about 20 miles away).
