Issaquah, WA: Cinebarre Issaquah 8 Closed, Sold to Costco

Posted on Saturday, February 1, 2020 and updated on Saturday, January 23, 2021 6:39 PM

The Cinebarre Issaquah 8 in Issaquah, Washington has closed. The last time we received updates from the theater was January 16, 2020.

Located just east of the I-90/17th Ave NW interchange, the theater will become part of the expansion of the Costco headquarters, according to an article published recently by the Issaquah Reporter:

Poster slots are no longer full of colorful movie advertisements and the parking lot is empty. The Regal Cinebarre in Issaquah has permanently shut its doors, and workers could be seen packing up the building’s contents Jan. 28.

A notice on the front door of the movie theater said: “Unfortunately, our Cinebarre Issaquah location has closed permanently. We want to thank our guests for years of loyalty, and we will cherish all the fun memories we had together throughout our time here. Please visit us at the Issaquah Highlands Regal! If you wish to further enjoy the Cinebarre tradition, our Mountlake Terrace location continues the legacy! (21+ location) We will miss you all!”

Costco in December purchased the movie theatre property in Pickering Place for the future expansion of its headquarters, according to a news posting on the Issaquah Chamber of Commerce website.

According to our records, the theater originally opened in 1995 as the Issaquah 9 Cinemas (Act III Theatres). It was known as the Regal Issaquah 9 Theatres when it closed in July 2013. It opened as the Cinebarre Issaquah (Cinebarre, LLC.) in November 2013. Things came full-circle when Regal acquired Cinebarre in 2015.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Regal Issaquah Highlands Stadium 12 IMAX & RPX in Issaquah, and the AMC Factoria 8 and Regal Crossroads in Bellevue. The closest Cinebarre location is the Cinebarre Mountlake 8 in
Mountlake Terrace, which is about 20 miles away.
