The Sun-Ray's Drive-In in Jacksonville, Florida will be closing after its December showings.

The drive-in is operated by Sun-Ray Cinemas, which also operates the Sun-Ray Cinema @ 5 Points on Park Street. The company announced the drive-in's closure on its Facebook page on November 27, 2023:

Here are the drive-in holiday screenings coming up starting this weekend 12/2. Sadly, this will be our last month at the drive-in. We just weren't able to secure permission from the property owners to build a full-on screen and while our screen solution was an OK workaround it really isn't supposed to be used in this way and I feel like we have been pushing our luck for far too long

12/2 Home Alone 7p
12/9 Die Hard 7p
12/15& 12/16 Christmas Vacation 7p
12/22 & 12/23 Elf 7p

Thanks for hanging out at the drive-in for the last three years. For us,it was the only fun thing that was born outta the dumb pandemic... Shout out to all our spots. Callahan, Talleyrand, Metro (RIP) and lastly, our favorite spot the Ramona Flea Market.

To see what's playing and when, please visit the Showtimes page for the Sun-Ray's Drive-In.

Once it closes, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Sun-Ray Cinema @ 5 Points and the Epic Theatres at Oakleaf with Epic XL. Those seeking the drive-in experience will need to be willing to go a little further to watch movies under the stars. The nearest drive-in is the Ocala Drive-In, which is more than 80 miles away in Ocala.
