Cinemark USA announced Friday that the new Cinemark Louis Joliet Mall Theatre in Joliet, Illinois will open this Friday, May 8, 2009.

The new 14-screen movie theater is located at 3440 Mall Loop Drive in the Westfield Louis Joliet Mall and will feature digital cinema projection, stadium seating, online ticketing, and self-serve concessions. Five of the auditoriums will have 3D capability, in time for the next big 3D release, Up in Disney Digital 3D.

Before the theater opens to the general public on Friday, they will be holding several activities are planned for this week. An invite-only event will be held on Wednesday and an open house/media night is planned for Thursday.

To celebrate its grand opening, the first 50 customers each day of grand opening weekend, May 8-10, to see a movie with a ticket purchased online or at the box office will receive a free Cinemark Swag Bag filled with various film and Cinemark goodies.

Cinemark operates two other theaters in Joliet, the Cinemark Movies 10 - Joliet and Cinemark Movies 8 - Joliet, but there is no information about whether those theaters will continue operating after the Cinemark Louis Joliet Mall Theatre opens.
