Frank Theatres logoThe Frank Theatres - Kingsport Town Center in Kingsport, Tennessee closed at the end of April 2017. The last showtimes update we received was on April 24th.

WJHL reported in January that Frank Theatres would be leaving the Kingsport Town Center by the end of April. A subsequent report in February stated that the company was planning to build a brand new CineBowl and Grill location in Kingsport, which would include a movie theater with an IMAX auditorium, a restaurant, and a bowling alley.

A press release issued in March by Hull Property Group, the owner of the Kingsport Town Center, stated that NCG Cinemas is planning to take over the movie theater and begin renovations to the interior and exterior. The renovations will be done in conjunction with renovations to the mall, with the theater reopening in July.

“The cinema is an important part of the Kingsport Town Center and we are thrilled to be immediately moving forward with NCG Cinemas. They are a fabulous operator and are investing in the space to make the improvements needed to provide a first class movie going experience for this community. We look forward to the transition as it is a step in the right direction for this Mall,” said Ky Widener, Senior Vice President of Leasing for Hull Property Group.

NCG operates the the NCG - Gallatin Cinemas in Gallatin, and currently owns/operates 20 locations in six states.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Tri-Cities 7 Cinemas in Blountville.
