The Downtown Cinema 8 movie theater in Kirksville, Missouri is now under new management, and upgrades are on the way.

Located in downtown Kirksville (maybe that's where they came up with the name?) on Elston Street, the theater has been taken over by RT Entertainment, which operates the Fulton Cinema 8 in Fulton, Missouri and six other locations in Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, and Oklahoma. From here on out, it will be known as the Kirksville Downtown 8. 

The news was announced on the theater's Facebook page recently:

We're excited to announce that your local movie theater is now operated by RT Entertainment! We're a small-town theater company with several locations throughout the upper Midwest.

We are excited to become part of the community and bring the joy of the moviegoing experience to everyone. We appreciate all that the Colliers and Jim Fitzpatrick have done over the years to cultivate the movies in Kirksville, and we look forward to serving our guests over many more years to come!

Guests can look forward to many improvements, starting with a new web site (currently under construction, but the temporary site is up at downtowncinema8.com ), easier booking of private events, and new email and phone numbers. We'll also be going through and updating seating, screens, and sound systems in the coming months.
