Lake Geneva, WI: Emagine Geneva Lakes Set to Open in August 2018

Posted on Friday, July 20, 2018 3:29 PM

Emagine Entertainment LogoThe Emagine Geneva Lakes in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin will open in August 2018, according to an article published recently in the Lake Geneva Regional News:

Rainy weather has put a damper on remodeling of the former Showboat movie theater complex.

A rainstorm in early June got inside the theater property, and cleanup efforts are expected to delay the theater’s reopening by about two weeks.

The renamed Emagine Geneva Lakes theater is now scheduled to open to movie goers in mid-August, with a grand opening celebration planned for Aug. 28.

The movie theater was formerly the Showboat of Lyons, which closed in September 2017 and was sold to Michigan-based Emagine Entertainment in January. Because of the extensive renovations being done to the theater, we've created a new entry and added it as a Featured Theater for all our readers which had saved the Showboat of Lyons previously.

I tried to take photos of the theater this week, but extensive road construction/closures and the fact that the theater's driveway and parking lot was completely removed and being staked for repaving prevented me from doing so. That parking lot was in very poor condition, so replacing it completely was likely a necessary move.

This theater is Emagine's first Wisconsin location. The company expanded into Minnesota in 2016 by purchasing all eight Minnesota locations of the Muller Family Theatres chain.

Until the theater opens, the nearest movie theaters for moviegoers in the Lake Geneva area is the Geneva Theater in downtown Lake Geneva and the Plaza Theater in Burlington, which is about eight miles away.
