The Skyview Drive-In in Litchfield, Illinois is for sale. Located along Old Route 66 just north of town, the theater's owners first announced its availability in June 2021 with a video posted on the theater's website.

The video was accompanied by the following message:

Could you be the NEW Skyview Caretaker?
 
The Pastrovich Family has enjoyed the last 7 seasons with you! This Route 66 Hall of Fame, & Guinness Record holding business, is ready to start it's next chapter. The Litchfield Skyview is one of several historical  spots in this Route 66 Community. 

Specs: Fully operational drive in with 50's era snack bar. Digital projector, 30' x 80' screen, garage, original neon marquee, space for 800 + cars full of guests. On 16+ acres. 

It is now January 2023, and the information is still on the theater's website, so it appears that they have not found a new owner yet, and they are still operating the theater up through the end of last October.

According to the website, the drive-in opened in the spring of 1950. Pastro Properties Inc, comprised of Mike, Debbie, Nick, and Mindy Pastrovich, purchased the property March 1, 2016. It says that it is the only drive-in still operating on Route 66 in Illinois, and only one of four doing so in the country. Considering that the Route 66 Drive-In in Springfield can be seen from Old Chatham Road (the path of Route 66 through the area until 1930) and is less than two miles from I-55, which follows the post-1930 route), I would include that location as being on Route 66 as well.

Hopefully, the theater will reopen again for the 2023 season, and will continue to do so while they search for a new owner or decide to take it off the market. To see what's playing and when, please visit the Showtimes page for the Skyview Drive-In.

We last visited this location and took photos in 2012. We passed by on a Route 66 Road Trip in the summer of 2021, but the weather prevented us from stopping in. You can see the photos that we have on the theater's Photo Gallery page.
