The Stuart Cinema & Cafe has moved from its location in Brooklyn, New York to a new one in Queens.

Originally opened in 2018, the independent theater on West Street and Greenpoint Avenue appears to have made a name for itself as a space for the community to gather an enjoy movies. Founded by Emelyn Stuart, the operation had 50 seats and featured a cafe with homestyle menu selections in addition to the standard popcorn and soft drinks.

Now, the movie theater has moved to a new site in Long Island City. The Stuart Cinema & Cafe opened April 24, 2026 on Northern Boulevard near 39th Street. According to an article published recently in the Patch (see below), the new location features two auditoriums, recliner seating, larger screens, and a larger menu from a full-service restaurant.

Long Island City's gain is Brooklyn's loss, though. For moviegoers near the previous location, they'll have to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Film Noir Cinema, the Nitehawk Cinema - Williamsburg, and the Williamsburg Cinemas.
