The AMC Classic Mankato 6 in Mankato, Minnesota has closed.

Located on Stadium Road near Minnesota State University Mankato, the theater's last day appears to have been Tuesday, January 2, 2024. AMC's website provides no clues as to why the theater closed, just a message that reads "AMC CLASSIC Mankato 6 Has Permanently Closed."

According to our records, the theater was opened in 1970s by Carisch Theatres as the Cine 2. Carisch Theatres was purchased by Essaness Theatres in March 1988 and it was renamed to University Square Cinema. It was later known as the Carmike Stadium 6 - Mankato, which became the AMC Classic Mankato 6 in March 2017 after AMC acquired Carmike Cinemas. 

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Spotlight Theatres - Mankato 4 and the Cinemark River Hills Movies 8 in Mankato, and the Madelia Theater in Madelia. If you have AMC gift cards to use, the closest location is the AMC Southdale 16 in Edina, which is almost 90 minutes away.
