Marcus Theatres Adding Amenities to Select Locations

Posted on Monday, January 19, 2015 2:02 PM

Marcus DreamLounger SeatingMarcus Theatres announced recently that they will be making some improvements to several locations around the country.

They are adding their DreamLoungerSM reclining seats to the Marcus South Shore Cinemas in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, the Marcus Menomonee Falls Cinemas in Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and the Marcus Elgin Cinema in Elgin, Illinois.

In addition to the reclining seats, the press release from Marcus also mentions that two existing UltraScreen auditoriums will be converted to UltraScreen DLX® auditoriums, and a traditional auditorium will be updated to become an UltraScreen DLX. That designation means that the auditorium has "up to" a 70' wide screen, DreamLounger reclining chairs, and a Dolby Atmos sound system.

Additional improvements will be made to the Marcus Southgate Cinema in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and the Marcus Majestic Cinema of Brookfield in Brookfield, Wisconsin.

“It is important to create options, comforts and conveniences for our guests,” said Rolando Rodriguez, president and chief executive officer of Marcus Theatres. “Going to the movies is a social event that can be personalized based on preferences and occasions. Our DreamLounger recliner seating is perfect for all occasions; visiting the Take Five Lounge is great for those looking for a beverage or snack before or after a movie; our UltraScreen DLX auditoriums provide a premium experience to see the latest blockbuster film the way it was meant to be seen; and Zaffiro’s Express and Big Screen Bistro offer a great way to combine dinner and a movie. By better meeting our customers’ needs, we are able to provide choices they can appreciate.”

Amenity Descriptions

Marcus has a lot of brands and designations, so it can be a little confusing as to what everything means. Here is a brief list of the ones that are discussed in this article, along with a description of each.

UltraScreen Auditorium

UltraScreen DLX Auditorium

UltraScreen features, plus:

  • Dolby Atmos sound system (for Atmos-encoded movies)
  • DreamLounger reserved seating

DreamLounger Seating

Powered reclining seats controlled at the push of a button. The seats are wide, and Marcus says that they have seven feet of legroom between seats. From personal experience, someone can be fully reclined and you can get past them to get to your seat, so there is quite a bit of space between rows.

Take Five Lounge

A casual full-service lounge that offers wine, beer, and cocktails with TV's and free WiFi. (See Photos)

Zaffiro’s Express

Freshly prepared thin-crust pizza, appetizers, and desserts that you can take with you into the movie theater.

Big Screen Bistro

In-theater dining, with concessions and restaurant-style menu choices available and served by the staff to a table at your seat. Wine, beer, and cocktails are available as well.
