Marcus Theatres locations have been offering "Movie Tuesday" promotions on Tuesdays for quite some time (our earliest mention of it is from October 2013), and driving past any of their participating locations on a Tuesday afternoon or evening demonstrates the popularity of discounted movies and concession specials. The company recently announced that the popular promotion is being replaced with a more expensive version, starting March 28, 2023.

Value Tuesday is Coming Soon!

Starting March 28, Movie Tuesday is becoming Value Tuesday at Marcus Theatres and Movie Tavern! You’ll still get to see the hottest blockbusters at a great price, and Magical Movie Rewards members also enjoy additional discounts on food and drink specials. Value Tuesday provides members a way to enjoy the total Tuesday visit.

Instead of $5 movies in standard theaters and $6.50 in their UltraScreen and SuperScreen premium large-format theaters, they are increasing the price to $6 for members of their loyalty program ($7 for non-members) in standard theaters and the surcharge for UltraScreen and SuperScreen showings are 50% off for members. Concessions, food items, and non-alcohlic drinks are 20% off for members, with special members-only pricing on some combos and hot dogs as well.

A quick check of showtimes at the Marcus Majestic Cinema of Brookfield shows that an UltraScreen presentation of John Wick: Chapter 4 on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at 6:45pm was $8.40 for members and $11.55 for non-members (tax included). For comparison, the same movie in the same auditorium at 6pm the following day is $17.59 for adults.

Since the $5 Movie Tuesday promotion was not limited to Magical Movie Rewards members, and the new promotion is geared toward offering the biggest discounts to members, this is definitely a move on the company's part to get more people to sign up for the loyalty program. Membership in the rewards program is free at this time, so aside from the hassle of having yet another account, the membership does provide benefits that may make it worthwhile, depending on your preferences.

Wisconsin-based Marcus Theatres operates more than 80 movie theaters under the Marcus Theatres and Movie Tavern brands in seventeen states.
