The Golden Age Cinemas - McHenry Outdoor Theater in McHenry, Illinois is opening for the 2024 season tonight, May 17, 2024. We drove by the theater last summer and took more than a dozen photos.

Located on the corner of North Chapel Hill Road and Lincoln Road, the drive-in movie theater first opened in 1955. It was operated by C You At The Movies, Inc. until the end of the 2011 season, and then Golden Age Cinemas took over as the operator. Golden Age Cinemas also operated the Golden Age Cinemas - Liberty 1 & 2 Theatres in nearby Libertyville until it closed in late 2021 or early 2022. It's the only drive-in still operating in a 40 mile radius, so if you want to see a move under the stars, the McHenry Outdoor Theater is the place to be!
