The Park Avenue Cinema in Meadville, Pennsylvania has closed. Meadville is approximately 45 miles south of Erie.

The last time we received updates from the theater was August 7, 2019, but an article published recently in The Meadville Tribune (see below) says that the theater closed August 28 and will be sold by the county to recover unpaid taxes.

According to our records, the theater originally opened in 1968 as a two-screen operation. It expanded to four screens in 1985. It was closed by Epic Theatres in 2006 and reopened in 2009.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the The Movies at Meadville in Meadville, the Iris Theatre in Cochranton, and the Sunset Drive-in in Waterford.
