The Metro Movies 12 in Middletown, Connecticut has closed.

Located in downtown Middletown in the Metro Square shopping center on Main Street, the movie theater closed abruptly on Monday, January 5, 2026. The theater posted a message in the window and on its Facebook page that read:

Metro Movies 12 is closed.

Theater History

According to our records, the theater originally opened June 4, 1999 as the Destinta Theatres - Metro Square 12 (Destinta Theatres). It changed ownership to R/C Theatres in July 2012, and was known as R/C Metro Movies 12. It was later known simply as the Metro Movies 12 (independent).

Where to Watch Movies on the Big Screen

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Picture Show at Berlin in Berlin, the Holiday Cinemas Stadium 14 in Wallingford, and the Southington Drive-In in Southington.
