Baseball fans in Milwaukee, Wisconsin have been able to watch the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series just one time. The 1982 team featured names written into the consciousness of fans and even non-fans alike, including Robin Yount, Paul Molitor, Ted Simmons, Rollie Fingers, Jim Slaton, Moose Haas, Ben Oglivie, and Charlie Moore.
A documentary about the 1982 Brewers called Just a Bit Outside: The Story of the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers, opens in theaters today, September 13, 2024. It features interviews with the aforementioned team members, as well as owner Bud Selig and legendary (at least in the Milwaukee area) Bob Uecker.
Movie fans may recognize the documentary's title from the movie Major League from 1989, which was filmed in Milwaukee, and featured Uecker as the announcer at the games for the fictional Cleveland Indians baseball team. When the pitcher played by Charlie Sheen throws a wild pitch, Uecker wryly announces that it was "just a bit outside."
