The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra has begun the process of renovating the Grand Cinemas in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for use as a performance space, according to an article published recently by OnMilwaukee:

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra will break ground on its new Milwaukee Symphony Center, 212 W. Wisconsin Ave., on Thursday, June 21 at 11 a.m.

Mayor Tom Barrett is expected to join MSO Executive Director Mark Niehaus, MSO Board Chair Andy Nunemaker and benefactor David Uihlein at the event, which officially kicks off the transformation of the former Warner Grand Theater into a new home for the orchestra.

In addition to the renovation of the theater, built in 1931, the project -- centered around 2nd Street and Wisconsin Avenue -- includes two buildings and the moving of the theater's east wall.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel published an article last week about the impact of the project and it included photos that show what an incredible space the theater is, even after not being used for many years. OnMilwaukee also published an article in May that contains photos of the theater as well as animations of what the renovated theater is planned to look like. Take a look at those articles in the list below.
