We visited the Milwaukee Public Museum in Milwaukee, Wisconsin recently, which contains the Daniel M. Soref Dome Theater & Planetarium. Before and after watching Into America's Wild on its big domed screen, I took over two dozen photos to share with everyone here.

The theater originally opened in 1996 as the Humphrey IMAX Dome Theater. It began showing mainstream IMAX movies in 2004. When the IMAX screen at the AMC Mayfair Mall 18 in Wauwatosa opened in October 2009 with a traditional flat IMAX-sized screen (but not the really big IMAX screen that the brand was known for), combined with the continued expansion of the large UltraScreens at Marcus Theatres in the area, the market for mainstream IMAX movies probably shifted significantly away from the dome. The IMAX branding was dropped, and by 2013, it was known as the Daniel M. Soref National Geographic Dome Theater.
