Monticello, MN: Emagine Monticello Adds Amenities, Holds Grand Reopening

Posted on Friday, March 22nd, 2019 4:30 PM

The Emagine Monticello in Monticello, Minnesota has added axe throwing to its list of amenities, which include a "Monster" auditorium, luxury leather seating, handcrafted pizzas, and a full-service bar.

Located at Deegan Avenue (State Highway 25) and School Boulevard, the theater is less than a mile south of I-94, about 35 miles northwest of downtown Minneapolis. The theater celebrated a "grand re-opening" on Thursday, March 21, 2019, which was announced on its Facebook page:

The theater's official web site lists the following amenities:

  • Reserve your seat – We offer reserved seating for your convenience and comfort.
  • Luxury Seating – Get comfortable in luxurious heated leather power recliners.
  • Stadium Seating – All 12 of our theatre rooms feature stadium, which means you have the best and most comfortable movie watching experience.
  • Monticello Monster – This monster stretches from wall-to-wall and ceiling-to-floor. See movies like never before with our HUGE screen.
  • Huge Screens – No squinting at this screen. Each theatre has huge screens so you are immersed in the movie.
  • Theatre Bar – A full-service bar with wine, beer on tap, including local selections and cocktail service to your reserved seat on Friday & Saturday nights from 6PM – close.
  • Handcrafted Pizzas – Enjoy all the standard movie concessions or try one of our handcrafted pizzas made in our stone ovens.
  • Birthday Parties – We do birthdays right at Emagine Monticello. Host your friends and family at your next birthday party and have an event that everyone loves.
  • Private Theatre Rentals – Theatre auditoriums are available for private rentals at Emagine Monticello.

You'll find the "Monster" showings identified in the comments that appear below the showtimes on the Showtimes page for the Emagine Monticello.

These upgrades should help the Emagine Monticello compete against the two theaters that are nearby. The St. Michael Cinema is about eleven miles down I-94, and the Marcus Elk River Cinema is about twelve miles east, in the Elk River Mall near Highway 169 and Route 10, just north of the Mississippi River. While neither theater offers axe throwing, the former does have a 70-foot-wide "Eiffel Screen" and a bar. The Marcus location appears to lack any of those types of upgrades.

If you're interested in seeing Us this weekend, where to see it? An adult ticket to the "Monster" screen at the Emagine Monticello will cost $10.95, the "Eiffel Screen" at the St. Michael Cinema is $7.00, and a regular adult ticket at the Marcus Elk River costs $8.00. View more ticket price information for the Emagine Monticello on the theater's Ticket Prices page.

Formerly known as the Monticello 15 Theatre, it was part of the Muller Family Theatres chain, which was sold to Emagine Entertainment in 2016. The company operates seven other locations in Minnesota, as well as twelve more in Wisconsin, Illinois, and its home state of Michigan.
