The Harbor Cinema in Muskegon, Michigan has closed permanently.

The news was announced on the theater's Facebook page recently:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce that we are staying closed permanently. We had hoped to be open in some capacity by the end of June and yet there is still no date set for theaters to be reopened in the lower peninsula. We had tried to do a couple fundraisers that we had hoped would get us by but no one anticipated having to be closed for 6 plus months and we had hoped that congress would have passed a new small business funding bill before they left for recess. We want to thank everyone for a great 7 years! It’s been quite a ride and this is not how we had intended or hoped to end things.

For those of you that recently purchased a yearly movie club pass or still have an unused one we are doing our best to be able to refund those for you. We ask that you please give us a few weeks to get funds around and to setup a system to be able to do refunds. We are doing the best we can and want to at least refund those that have been unable to use their yearly passes. We will make another announcement when we are able to do so.

Again thanks everyone for a great time over the last 7 years and we hope you will still support the moviegoing experience wherever that may be.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Getty Drive-In in Muskegon and Celebration! Cinema - Cinema Carousel in Muskegon and NorthStar Cinemas - Whitehall in Whitehall.
