Naperville, IL: Hollywood Palms Opens with Thematic Auditoriums, Unique Lobby, Celebrity Events

Posted on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 2:23 PM

The Hollywood Palms movie theater opened last week in Naperville, Illinois, and it's not your average run-of-the-mill multiplex! The lobby is decorated with wooden archways, antique statues, and a large waterfall, and the auditoriums have themes, like Underwater, Mayan Temple, Chinese, Animation, Egypt, and The Wizard of Oz, where the castle that belonged to the Wicked Witch of the West is replicated, complete with flying monkeys.

WGN-TV has some video of the new theater and an interview with the owner. You can see this video below, and clicking on the Read link will take you to the WGN-TV web site, which has a transcript of the video as well.

The theater isn't just decorated nicely with nothing else to offer, however. Like their sister location, the Hollywood Blvd. in Woodridge, the Hollywood Palms offers a full restaurant and bar with dining service at your seat.

The theater is also hosting several events in the upcoming months, where celebrities will be present to sign autographs before a movie that they starred in. Examples include:

Wayne's World with host Tia Carrere October 9 - 11, 2009
Marty and The Poseidon Adventure with host Ernest Borgnine October 16, 2009
The Birds with host Tippi Hedren October 17, 2009
M*A*S*H with hosts Elliott Gould and Sally Kellerman October 18, 2009
Frankenstein & The Wolfman hosted by Sara Karloff and Ron Chaney October 23 - 25, 2009
Young Frankenstein with host Teri Garr October 30 - November 1, 2009

Singing in the Rain and The Unsinkable Molly Brown with host Debbie Reynolds

November 7, 2009

The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary with hosts The Munchkins

November 8, 2009

Some Like It Hot with host Tony Curtis

December 5 - 6, 2009

It's a Wonderful Life with host Karolyn 'ZuZu' Grimes

December 18 - 19, 2009

The schedule is subject to change, so please see the web site for Hollywood Palms for more information.
