The historic Vista Theater in Negaunee, Michigan suffered extensive damage after its roof collapsed August 26, 2020.

Dating back to 1926, the theater is operated by the Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council (PAAC). Negaunee is in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, about twelve miles west of Marquette.

The theater appears to have been primarily a playhouse for live theater performances, but its website does mention that it's capable of playing movies with its digital projector.

The following announcement appears on the theater's website:

Roof Collapse Update

Wednesday morning August 26th, the Vista Theater suffered a tragic roof truss collapse that affected the center of the structure over the auditorium. It is thought that the collapse came due to a roof-drain failure during an extremely heavy rain.

We are currently waiting on the assessments from professionals to decide our best course of action moving forward. Whatever the path forward is for the building, our organization is committed to continue bringing the community together through the arts and we need your help.

A GoFundMe page has been created to raise funds for the theater's roof repairs. Donations may be sent via mail, with checks payable to "Peninsula Arts Appreciation Council" to 218 Iron Street, Negaunee, MI 49866.

For more information, please see the theater's official website and Facebook page. We have links to both on the Related Sites page for the Vista Theater.
