The Wonderland Cinema in Niles, Michigan has been closed temporarily due to the flooding of the St. Joseph river.

A message posted to the theater's web site earlier today provides some details:

Wonderland Update: We were somewhat successful at keeping water to a minimum inside until 10pm last evening. Water on the outside door sand bags was at or above a foot and rising so we asked our employees to leave the building for safety. Owner and Building Supervisors are in NILES now but are not able to get to the Wonderland building at this time. We KNOW we will NOT be open for at least a week... further assessment is needed at this time. ***Pre-Purchased tickets holders ONLY can email [-- removed --] for reimbursement OR we will allow you to use your ticket for AVAILABLE seating at the Loma in Coloma. YOU MUST INCLUDE/SHOW YOUR NAME AND EMAIL ADDRESS & DATE, TIME & MOVIE PURCHASED along with YOUR EMAILED CONFIRMATION NUMBER. We ask that you please be patient with us as we navigate this evolving challenge.

We removed the E-Mail address that was posted in the message for privacy, but you can visit the theater's Facebook page for more information or use the Contact Form on the theater's web site.

Until the theater reopens, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Cinemark Movies 14 in Mishawaka, Indiana, and the AMC Classic South Bend 16 in South Bend, Indiana.

The theater is owned/operated by Moore Theaters, which operates four other theaters in Michigan, including the Loma Theatre in Coloma, which is about 25 miles away.
