Moviegoers in Oregon, Ohio have been enjoying movies under the stars since 1949, when the theater now known as the Sundance Drive-In was named the Parkside Drive-In.

However, those days may be numbered, as the theater's website mentions that their lease is in its last year and is non-renewable:

The 2022 season marks the drive-in's 73rd year in operation.  However, the land The Sundance sits on is currently for sale, and the drive-in is in the final year of a long-term, non-renewable land lease. And, even though this season could likely mean the end of an era, we don't plan to just let her fade off into the sunset.  We've got plans to celebrate The Sundance all season long and we hope to see your family during our celebration, taking  part in a  classic experience one last time.

That means that fans of watching movies on the big screen and outdoors should head over to the Sundance Drive-In (also called the Sundance Kid Drive-In) should do so without delay!

To see what's playing and when, please visit the Showtimes page for the Sundance Drive-In.

Fortunately, there are a few options available if/when the theater does close. The Memory Lane Drive-In Theater just north of Monroe, Michigan (~23 miles away) opened last year and the Field of Dreams Drive-In - Liberty Center is showing movies about 30 miles southwest of Oregon.

According to our records, Great Eastern Theatres has been operating the Sundance Drive-In since 1987, which is when it was renamed from the Parkside Drive-In.
