Movies haven't been showing in Paradise, California since the Paradise Cinema 7 closed after the Camp Fire caused widespread destruction in 2018. But that vacancy has been filled.

Nearly eight years later, two movie screens are back up and running as The Gathering Cinema. Located on Clark Road, the movie theater held its Grand Opening on March 7, 2026. The building is also the home of The Gathering Church, which holds services on Sunday mornings.

According to a news article published recently by KRCR ABC 7 (see below), the theater and church run independently of each other, but that it will be a welcoming space for everyone, regardless of faith affiliation. According to the theater's website, there will be an emphasis on family-oriented fare at affordable prices.

Until now, movie fans in the area have had to visit the Pageant Theatre and the Cinemark Tinseltown Chico 14 and XD in Chico.
