The PFS Drive-In at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania has closed.

The popup-style movie theater opened in 2020 by the Philadelphia Film Society, which also operates the Philadelphia Film Center and the PFS Bourse Theater.

The Philadelphia Film Society posted the following message recently on their website:

PFS Announces Permanent Closure of the Drive-In at the Navy Yard
May 19, 2022 by  Emily Costello

Due to unforeseen issues we are sad to announce that the PFS Drive-In at the Navy Yard is permanently closed.

After two incredible seasons, we would like to thank The Navy Yard, our members and patrons, as well as the Philly film community for supporting us as we embarked on this journey to create a unique and safe experience for audiences. The Drive-In will remain cherished part of the Film Society’s history.

Please check Filmadelphia.org for screenings taking place at the PFS Bourse & Film Center as well as information regarding the return of Movies on the Block – coming this Summer to a neighborhood near you!

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Landmark Ritz Five in Philadelphia as well as the aforementioned Philadelphia Film Center and PFS Bourse Theater, also in Philadelphia. Those looking for an outdoor movie experience will need to travel more than 30 miles to the Delsea Drive-In in Vineland, New Jersey.
