The Next Act Cinema in Pikesville, Maryland has closed.

Located on Reisterstown Road, the theater's last day was December 30, 2024. Its closure seems to have come as a surprise, as the news was announced on its Facebook page two days previously:

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of Next Act Cinema on December 30, 2024. For the past seven years, we’ve had the privilege of bringing the magic of movies to Pikesville and creating a space where stories came to life, memories were made, and connections were built.

Your unwavering support, from attending screenings to sharing laughs and celebrating milestones with us, has meant the world. Next Act Cinema was more than just a theater; it was a community, and that was only possible because of you.

While this chapter is coming to an end, we will forever cherish the incredible moments we’ve shared with each of you. Thank you for being part of our story.

Theater History

The theater originally opened in 1934 as a single-screen location. It closed in 1986 and was turned into a diner called the Pikes Diner. It reopened in 2013 as the Pikes Theatre under the management of Horizon Cinemas. It closed in 2016 and reopened in 2019 as the Next Act Cinema at the Pikes.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the AMC Owings Mills 17 in Owings Mills, and the AMC Security Square 8 and the Warehouse Cinemas - Rotunda in Baltimore.
