After almost a week of being closed, the movie theater in the Providence Place shopping center in Providence, Rhode Island has reopened with a new operator.

Located along I-95 at Memorial Boulevard, the shopping center is going through receivership and is being prepared for sale. The lease on the movie theater was due to end in January, but National Amusements is out and Apple Cinemas is in. The Apple Cinemas - Providence Place IMAX opened to the public Saturday, November 1, 2025.

Based in Massachusetts, Apple Cinemas operates locations in seven states. This will be the company's second location in Rhode Island. According to an article published recently by WJAR (see below), Apple Cinemas plans to renovate the theater to include luxury recliners and an upgraded projection and sound system for the IMAX auditorium. The article mentions that a trampoline park, bowling, and a bar and lounge are also planned additions for the location.

While it was closed, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Avon Cinema in Providence and the Apple Cinemas - Warwick in Warwick.
