The R/C Richland Crossings Movies 12 in Quakertown, Pennsylvania opened to the public March 1, 2024.

Located in the Richland Crossing shopping center along North West End Boulevard, the 12-screen movie theater was previously known as the Regal Richland Crossing 12, which closed in September 2022 after its parent company, Cineworld, filed for bankruptcy. Regal opened the theater as the Regal Cinemas Richland Crossing 12 in December 1998. Cineworld acquired Regal Entertainment Group in 2017. We reported last month that the theater was due to reopen in March, and the company took no time whatsoever meeting that deadline!

Maryland-based R/C Theatres bills itself as "family owned & operated since 1932" and now has 14 locations in Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida. Until now, the closest location to Quakertown was the R/C Reading Movies 11 & IMAX in Reading, which is more than 30 miles away.

Theater Amenities

The movie theater offers its guests a range of amenities, including heated recliner seats, a Premium Large Format "RCXtreme" auditorium, an expanded snack bar, and more. A press release from the digital projection company Christie mentions that all 12 screens are illuminated by the company's laser-powered projectors, with the RCXtreme auditorium having a 4K system.

The website for R/C Theatres mentions the following amenities available at its RCXtreme auditoriums:

• Wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling screen
• Dolby Atmos Sound, with 30+ discrete channels of audio/speakers and over 13,500 watts of amplifier power
• Buttkickers reverberating seats, with 140+ individual low frequency audio transducers, one in each seat, providing over 10,000 watts of amplified low frequency audio
• 4K laser projection

Showtimes & Tickets

Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the AMC Center Valley 16 in Center Valley and the Grand Theater in East Greenville, which are both about eight miles away.
