Unless you've been living behind a reef or under a seashell, you know that this weekend's big new release is Disney's live-action The Little Mermaid. Most are very familiar with the story and the songs that were made famous by the 1989 animated movie, and the studio has shared quite a few clips that feature the new renditions of those songs. Time will tell if this version can knock Fast X from its perch atop the weekend Box Office report, but we think it stands a very good chance of doing so, and then some.

For those not interested in the trials of Ariel and Prince Eric, Sebastian Maniscalco and Robert De Niro star in the comedy, About My Father. This seems to be an extension of De Niro's character from Meet the Parents, but take a look at the trailers and clips that we have and determine for yourself if it fits in your weekend plans!

If action is what you seek, Gerard Butler would like you to check out Kandahar, in which he plays an undercover CIA operative who is stuck deep in hostile territory in Afghanistan. After his mission is exposed, he must fight his way out, alongside his Afghan translator, to an extraction point in Kandahar, all while avoiding elite enemy forces and foreign spies tasked with hunting them down.

Blending action and comedy is The Machine, which finds Bert Kreischer facing familial crisis and the arrival of his estranged father (Mark Hamill) when the ghost of his booze-soaked past arrives: a murderous mobster hellbent on kidnapping Bert back to the motherland to atone for his crimes. Together, he and his father must retrace the steps of his younger self in the midst of a war between a sociopathic crime family while they attempt to find common ground.
