The Cinemark Century Riverside 12 in Reno, Nevada will be closing soon.

Located in the Riverwalk District along the Truckee River, the movie theater originally opened in 1999. The Cinemark website announces the news when visiting the theater's page, and recommends visiting a newly upgraded Cinemark theater nearby.

According to an article published recently by 2 News Nevada (see the list below), the theater will be closing November 14, 2024. That's just over 25 years after it opened, which may indicate that a lease was not renewed. No official reason for the theater's closing has been announced by the company.

However, news reports from September mention that the building in the process of being sold to a developer with plans for the property. The website for Gung-Ho highlights a development called "The Riverside Plaza" that mentions that the movie theater "will be repurposed to include two restaurants, a café, beer garden, shopping, family activities, dinner theaters, live entertainment, and co-working office space." It sounds like a movie theater will be part of the plans, but time will tell.

Showtimes and Tickets

Until November 14, you can see what's playing and when, and buy tickets online, by visiting the Showtimes page for the Cinemark Century Riverside 12. Once it closes, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Fleischmann Planetarium and Science Center and the Cinemark Century Park Lane 16. The latter location is the one identified by Cinemark above as being recently upgraded (that theater's page mentions heated reclining seats as one of the upgrades).

Theater History

According to our records, the theater opened November 12, 1999 as the Regal Cinemas Riverside 12. Century Theatres took over January 28, 2000 and it was renamed to the Century Riverside 12. Cinemark acquired Century Theatres in 2006.
