Marcus Theatres announced recently that 23 locations in seven states have been upgraded or will have upgrades completed in time for the summer blockbuster season.

Whomever makes the powered recliners for the company is having a very good year, as the vast majority of upgraded theaters (21) have had the so-called DreamLoungers installed. These recliners are similar to those that are all the rage across many theater chains.

Fifteen locations will have one or more premium large format (PLF) screens, under the brand names of UltraScreen DLX and SuperScreen DLX. Both offer larger-than-usual screens, heated DreamLounger recliners, and Dolby Atmos sound systems. The primary difference between them is that the screens in UltraScreen auditoriums are larger than the SuperScreen counterparts.

Ten locations have had new food and dining options added. The Take Five Lounge is an area that offers "casual dining" food selections, appetizers, and drinks in a lounge atmosphere. The company's Reel Sizzle counter is reminiscent of a 1950s diner, offering up burgers, sandwiches, and even hand-made shakes. Zaffiro's Express offers thin-crust pizza, sandwiches, appetizers, and desserts. You can take your food from any of these into the auditorium. Going the next step is their Big Screen Bistro auditoriums, which offer in-theater dining with seat-side service.

See the list below to find out which theaters have been upgraded, and what upgrades they received/are receiving.
