The Bow Tie Reston Town Center 11 & BTX in Reston, Virginia has closed.

Located on Market Street just west of Reston Parkway, about 20 miles west of downtown Washington, D.C., the eleven-screen movie theater last provided showtimes updates on April 29, 2022, so it likely closed this past weekend.

It was operated by Bow Tie Cinemas, which has been shedding locations lately. AMC acquired seven Bow Tie Cinemas locations last month, the Bow Tie Herricks Cinemas in New Hyde Park, New York closed earlier this year, and the Bow Tie Criterion Cinemas at Movieland in Richmond, Virginia was removed from the company's website recently. The news of the Reston location closing brings the chain down to just five locations spread across five different states.

The good news for moviegoers in the area is that it appears that a new operator will be coming soon. A building permit has been pulled by LOOK Dine-In Cinemas to replace seating and make other changes. Until then, if you're looking to see a movie in the area, you will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the AMC Worldgate 9 in Herndon and the Regal Cinemas Dulles Town Center 10 in Dulles.
