Richmond, TX: Regal Grand Parkway Closed, Reopening August 1 as Cinemark Location

'Closed' graphic

The Regal Grand Parkway in Richmond, Texas has closed, but will reopen soon as a Cinemark location.

Located about 24 miles west of downtown Houston along Grand Parkway, the 22-screen movie theater showed its last movie Wednesday, July 26, 2023. The good news is that it is scheduled to reopen again on August 1 as the Cinemark Long Meadow and XD, IMAX, ScreenX.

Regal's parent company Cineworld declared bankruptcy in September and we expected that some locations would close. This location was not on the list of 39 location closures announced in January, so news of its closing is likely a surprise for its customers. The list of Regal theaters that have closed is getting quite long, with our Theater Closings section filled with news articles in the past few months.

When August 1 rolls around in just a few days, Cinemark tells us that moviegoers can expect the following amenities:

  • Cinemark's Luxury Lounger powered recliners with snack tables, cup holders, and footrests in select auditoriums.
  • Standard concessions including popcorn, soft drinks, and candy, as well as chicken tenders, pizza, cheeseburgers, and more.
  • Cinemark's XD premium large format auditorium.
  • An IMAX auditorium.
  • ScreenX in at least one auditorium.
  • D-Box motion seats in select auditoriums.

Showtimes and Tickets

We expect to start receiving showtimes from Cinemark soon, so keep an eye on the Showtimes page for the Showtimes page for the Cinemark Long Meadow and XD, IMAX, ScreenX for updates!

Until it reopens, moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Star Cinema Grill - Richmond/Katy in Richmond, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema - LaCenterra in Katy, and the Xscape Theatres - Katy Fulshear in Richmond. If you have Regal gift cards to use, the closest locations are the Regal Edwards Houston Marq'E and Regal Edwards Greenway Grand Palace in Houston.

Theater History

According to our records, the theater originally opened May 16, 2013 as the Santikos Palladium AVX - West Houston (aka Santikos Palladium 22). It was transferred to Regal Cinemas in 2017 and renamed to the Regal Grand Parkway 22. Cineworld acquired Regal Entertainment Group later in 2017.
