Moviegoers near the Greece Ridge Mall in Rochester, New York will be happy to know that the movie theater is reopening soon. The Apple Cinemas - Greece Ridge Mall will be opening to the public Thursday, March 13, 2025 with a full array of first-run movies.

Located northwest of downtown Rochester in The Mall at Greece Ridge on the southwest corner of West Ridge Road and NY-390, the movie theater was formerly known as the Regal Cinemas Greece Ridge Center 12, which closed in March 2023. The closure was part of a large number of closures of movie theaters by parent company Cineworld, which declared bankruptcy in September 2022 and has been closing many locations ever since. The Regal Henrietta on Rochester's south side closed in June 2023. Apple Cinemas took advantage of the closing of the Pittsford Cinema 9 in June 2022 to purchase and remodel that location, which opened in December 2023 as the Apple Cinemas - Pittsford Cinema.

Until now, people in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Cinemark Tinseltown USA and IMAX and the Little Theatre in Rochester.

Theater Amenities

The movie theater features recliner seating, which has become a standard of any new movie theater opening or upgrade these days. One auditorium will be Apple Cinemas' premium Apple Cinematic Experience (ACX), which has a 4K digital projection system and Dolby Atmos sound system for an immersive audio experience. One auditorium will offer ScreenX, which uses three projectors to immerse viewers in a 270-degree image. We do not believe that ScreenX is installed in the ACX auditorium.
