The Pittsford Cinema 9 in Rochester, New York closed Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Located in the Pittsford Plaza on Monroe Avenue, the theater posted the following announcement on its Facebook page on June 2:

​To our loyal guests...

After 20 amazing years bringing the best upscale film to the Rochester area, we are closing our doors at the end of business Sunday, June 5th.

Please visit us one last time this weekend and take in a film before the end of this era. If you have any unused gift cards, please bring them along and use them up. For VIP Club members, any rewards on your cards will be honored through Sunday. If you are not able to use your gift card before closing, we will be setting up a way to get your unused balance returned to you -stay tuned for those details.

It has been an honor for all us--theatre staff and corporate office personnel alike-to entertain you at the Pittsford Cinema.

The theater was operated by Zurich Cinemas, which continues to operate ten other movie theaters across New York. The company has operated the Pittsford location since March 2002. The theater's history dates back to its opening on June 3, 1988 by General Cinema Corp. as the Pittsford Plaza 6. When General Cinema Corp. dissolved, Entertainment Film Works operated the theater for a time. Zurich expanded the location to nine screens by carving up the largest auditorium into four small rooms.

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Roc Cinema, the Dryden Theatre, and the Regal Henrietta Cinema 18.
