The Regal Henrietta in Rochester, New York has closed.

Located less than six miles south of downtown Rochester on Marketplace Drive between Jefferson Road and Hylan Drive, the movie theater's last day of operation was June 7, 2023. It was operated by Cineworld under the Regal Cinemas brand.

When the theater opened as the Regal Henrietta Cinema 18 on March 7, 1997, it was heralded as New York's largest movie theater. United Kingdom-based Cineworld purchased Regal in 2017 as its way of entering the U.S. market. Following the nationwide closures of movie theaters in 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Cineworld declared bankruptcy in 2022 and started closing many locations across the country.

One of the many locations the company has closed was the Regal Cinemas Greece Ridge Center 12 in the northwest part of Rochester. That location closed in March and is expected to reopen as an Apple Cinemas location. Apple Cinemas also has purchased the Pittsford Cinema 9 on the southeast part of Rochester with plans to reopen it after a remodeling project is completed.

Where to Watch Movies on the Big Screen

Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Movies 10 and the Roc Cinema. If you have Regal gift cards to use, the closest location is now the Regal Eastview Mall 13 in Victor, which is about ten miles from the Henrietta theater's location.
