The Rome Cinemas in Rome, Georgia closed its doors in October 2020.
We couldn't find much information about it closing. A message was posted on the theater's Facebook page October 16, 2020 that they were closed but were doing private showings. On October 24, they said that they were open, but the last time we received showtimes updates for the theater was October 2.
Located on Shorter Avenue, the movie theater was operated by Village Theaters, Inc., which also owns the Movies at Mount Berry Square in the Berry Square Mall on the north side of Rome. It opened December 9, 1983 as the Litchfield Cinemas and was later owned by United Artists.
Moviegoers in the area will need to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the aforementioned Movies at Mount Berry Square, the West Theatre in Cedartown, and the AMC Classic Cartersville 12 in Cartersville.
