Streaming service HBO Max is offering their ad-free monthly plan at a 50% savings for six months.

That brings the standard $14.99/month fee down to just $7.49/month for the first six months of service.

The promotion starts today and lasts until September 26, 2021. It appears to be valid only for new customers and returning customers who aren't currently subscribers. Terms and conditions apply, of course, so head over to the HBO Max website for more details.

Given that Warner Bros. is still releasing its movies day-and-date in theaters and on HBO Max (Clint Eastwood's Cry Macho opened in theaters today and is available now on HBO Max), this is an inexpensive way to watch new movies from Warner Bros. in addition to the catalog of the WarnerMedia companies (Warner Bros., HBO, etc.).

We still think that the best way to see movies is on the biggest screen and the best sound system possible. Unless you have a dedicated home theater, that's going to be in a movie theater. However, for those times when you want to stay in, and you don't want to be bothered going to your collection of discs, this is a good option to have.

Whether even $7.49 a month is a good deal for you is your decision to make. WarnerMedia is hoping that you'll forget all about the fact that the price will go up to $14.99 after six months, of course, so set your calendar if you don't want to get a surprise on your credit card bill in seven months!
