The Teays Valley Cinemas first opened in Scott Depot, West Virginia in 2005 as the Frank Theatres - Teays Valley Cinemas.

With the recent bankruptcy filing by Frank Theatres, many of its locations are changing management, and this location has a familiar one. According to an article published recently in the Putnam Review, Brian McCall from East Coast Entertainment was there when it all began in Scott Depot:

Teays Valley Cinemas at Scott Depot had a ribbon-cutting ceremony March 7 to officially launch a new era for Putnam County’s only movie theater.

Teays Valley Cinemas is now owned and operated by East Coast Entertainment. Visitors toured the newly remodeled lobby, and were invited to attend the first showing of “Captain Marvel,” the new superhero entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

New owner and operator Brian McCall was also the original owner when Teays Valley Cinemas was built in 2005. He left to form East Coast Entertainment and open a chain of theaters in North Carolina. McCall wants to bring the movie house back to its “former glory.” He promised local movie lovers that they wouldn’t have to travel outside Putnam County to watch the top new releases.

General Manager Erick Shilling of Hurricane has worked at the cineplex since it opened. “I started out as a projectionist,” he said. “I’m excited that the theater now looks great and is getting a new life.”
