The Touchstar Cinemas - Sonora Village Luxury Cinemas in Scottsdale, Arizona opened December 10, 2021.

We mentioned in October that the theater was going to be reopening, but the date was uncertain. That article also stated that the ticket pricing was going to be $10 for adults and less for children and seniors, and now we have updated pricing information on the theater's Ticket Prices page based on what was shown on the Touchstar Cinemas website.

Our records show that this is a 9-screen location, but only West Side Story is playing, apparently on two screens. More auditoriums appear to be used starting on Thursday, so perhaps they are easing into a full set of shows later on.

The theater's page on the Touchstar Cinemas website lists the following amenities:

Until now, moviegoers in the area needed to visit one of the other nearby theaters, including the Landmark Scottsdale Quarter Theatre in Scottsdale and the Harkins Scottsdale 101 14 in Phoenix.

Located in the Sonora Village shopping center just west of the Pima Freeway (Arizona State Route 101), the theater was previously known as the Studio Movie Grill - Scottsdale, which originally opened in November 2011. It closed in March 2020 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, but never reopened. Studio Movie Grill filed for bankruptcy in October 2020, and the company announced in January 2021 that all its locations were closed permanently.

This is the first Arizona location for Touchstar Cinemas, which also operates theaters in Florida and an Alabama location is expected to open in 2022.
