Cinemark announced this week that select locations around the country will be hosting a "Best Picture & Best Director Festival" on Saturday, February 26, 2011. Viewers will be able to watch five movies that have been nominated for "Best Picture" and "Best Director" awards at the upcoming Academy Award ceremony.
"Moviegoers look forward to the awards season and enjoy seeing the nominated films before the big night," states Cinemark’s Vice President of Marketing and Communications, James Meredith. "The Best Picture & Best Director Festival is a great way to see five of 2010’s top movies that have been nominated by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for both the ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Director’ categories in one place, on the same day."
The movies being shown and their start times are as follows:
- The Social Network - 12:45
- The Fighter - 3:05
- True Grit - 5:20
- The King's Speech - 7:30
- Black Swan - 9:45
The movies will be presented consecutively and admission to the entire event is $25.
This event is similar to the "Best Picture Showcase" events being held at AMC theaters around the country on the 19th and 26th.
It appears that the theaters couldn't decide what to call it when they submitted their showtimes, so they are split across the following entries:
